Cathedral Caves and Hodge Quarry - Lake District - Still shots of the caves and landscapes.
This trip consisted of a journey to Hodge Close, a slate quarry in between Langdale and Coniston. We started our trip at the car park and worked our way towards to quarry. The slate quarry was originally used sometime in the early 1900's till mid 20th century. our first view was of the downward job - a 150 something meter unfenced drop to the lake below, you could see the old transit holes to mines all at the bottom, as well as some remains of kitchen appliances, car parts and other object i'm imagining people throwing down there.

We continued along a trail taking us to Cathedral Cave, an old cavern in the heart of a fell (assuming it was used for slate mining) this was a 30 minute or so walk from the initial quarry that we parked by.

The array of shots I have comprise of photos of the quarry, the walk to the cave, and shots in and outside the cave.

I hope you enjoy. The Lake district is a one of the most wonderful places in England. I'd urge anyone visiting the UK or just coming to the north for a short weekend to visit anywhere in the Lake District.

Jack.
